Delhi traffic slows on Raksha Bandhan; advisory for Anand Vihar, NH-9

Raksha Bandhan travel slowed traffic on the Delhi-Meerut Expressway for several hours on Friday, with heavier movement also reported on roads across the city.

Slow traffic was reported on MB Road in Chhatarpur, near the Lado Sarai Old MB Road signal, at Kalindi Kunj towards Delhi, and near Pragati Maidan and Akshardham. The Delhi-Saharanpur Highway near Geeta Colony Road also saw slower movement.

Delhi Traffic Police issued an advisory for August 27 and 28, citing higher pedestrian and vehicle movement around Anand Vihar ISBT, Road No. 56, NH-9 and Vikas Marg. The police asked commuters to plan trips in advance, avoid these stretches where possible and allow extra time.

Metro stations and trains also saw heavier passenger traffic ahead of the festival. Traffic personnel and enforcement teams were stationed at bottlenecks to regulate vehicles.
