Red Fort traffic curbs begin at 4am on Independence Day

Delhi’s Independence Day traffic plan will close key roads around the Red Fort to general traffic from 4am to 10am on August 15, affecting journeys through Old Delhi, Kashmiri Gate and central Delhi.

Motorists should avoid Netaji Subhash Marg between Delhi Gate and Chatta Rail Chowk; Lothian Road from GPO Delhi to Chatta Rail Chowk; SP Mukherjee Marg between HC Sen Marg and Yamuna Bazar Chowk; Chandni Chowk Road from Fountain Chowk to the Red Fort; and Ring Road between Rajghat and ISBT. Access on several stretches will be limited to vehicles with valid parking labels.

Bus passengers should check routes before travelling. Services normally bound for the Red Fort, Kauria Pul and Old Delhi Railway Station will be diverted or curtailed, with some ending near Mori Gate or Tis Hazari Court. Private and mini buses will terminate at the MCD parking area at Mori Gate.

Goods vehicles will be barred between Nizamuddin Khatta and Wazirabad Bridge from midnight until 11am. Interstate buses cannot run between Maharana Pratap ISBT and Sarai Kale Khan ISBT during that period; normal bus services are expected after 11am. Delhi Metro will start at 4am.
