Red Fort traffic curbs to close key Delhi roads from 4am on Independence Day

Delhi’s Red Fort approach roads will close to general traffic from 4am to 10am on August 15 as Independence Day celebrations take place. Only vehicles carrying valid parking labels will be allowed access.

The closures cover stretches of Netaji Subhash Marg, Lothian Road, SP Mukherjee Marg, Chandni Chowk Road, Nishad Raj Marg, Esplanade Road, Link Road and Ring Road between Rajghat and ISBT Kashmere Gate. Drivers have also been asked to avoid C-Hexagon, Copernicus Marg, Mandi House, Tilak Marg, Mathura Road, BSZ Marg, JL Nehru Marg and the Outer Ring Road via Salimgarh Bypass during the restriction window.

For north-south journeys, traffic police have suggested routes via Aurobindo Marg, Safdarjung Road, SP Marg, Mandir Marg, Panchkuian Road and Rani Jhansi Road. East-west commuters can use NH-24/NH-9, the DND and Barapulla Road.

Goods vehicles will be barred between Nizamuddin Khatta and Wazirabad Bridge from midnight until 11am. Interstate buses will be restricted between Maharana Pratap ISBT and Sarai Kale Khan ISBT, while city and DTC buses will be diverted on affected corridors.
