Rohini businessman alleges people posing as CBI officers sought entry

Eight to 10 people claiming to be CBI officers allegedly arrived at a businessman’s home in Rohini and sought to conduct a search, prompting his wife to keep the main gate shut.

The businessman told Delhi Police that the group pressed the family to let them in but did not show authorisation or establish their identities. He said they stayed outside for nearly 90 minutes. As neighbours gathered and asked to see a search warrant and authorisation, the visitors allegedly said the documents were in their vehicle and left, saying they would return. They did not return.

The family called the police helpline, and a police team reached the house. The businessman alleged that the visitors wore clothing bearing CBI insignia and carried identity cards identifying them as agency officers.

He also submitted a screenshot of a WhatsApp notice allegedly sent to his father, carrying the name and signature of the CBI director. The message was later deleted. The family alleged that the document was fabricated.

Police have registered a case, are reviewing CCTV footage and are investigating the sequence of events after finding discrepancies in the businessman’s account.
