Delhi Fashion Week: Ryndia silk showcased at Bharat Mandapam

Ryndia silk from Meghalaya featured at Bharat Mandapam on August 27 during a Delhi Fashion Week presentation of northeastern handlooms and cultural traditions.

International Reinvent Northeast – Season 8 featured Shillong designer Batkyntilin Mawthou and Ri-Bhoi weaver Iaineh. Their Meghalaya collection used Ryndia silk in contemporary designs, and dancer Kanchan Chakma walked as the showstopper.

The programme also included traditional attire from the Seven Sister states and a Manipuri dance performance by artists from Manipur. Models wore traditional sarees from NEHHDC’s Purbashree brand, including Eri silk fabrics.

The presentation was held during Film Expo India at ITPO’s Bharat Mandapam, scheduled from August 26 to 30. Delhi Fashion Club organised it with Film Expo India and NEHHDC, with support from the Northeast Council under the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region.
