Sabyasachi’s new store at The Citadel will combine fashion, jewellery, antiques and about 300 artworks in Mehrauli.
Sabyasachi’s 26,000 sq ft Mehrauli flagship is scheduled to open at The Citadel on August 25, with fashion, jewellery, antiques and art.
A Bengal tram-inspired installation with a life-size sculptural tiger is planned for Sabyasachi’s new 26,000 sq ft flagship in Mehrauli, scheduled to open on August 25.
The store at The Citadel, One Style Mile, is more than twice the size of the designer’s earlier 13,500 sq ft Delhi flagship, which opened in Mehrauli in 2016. Sabyasachi plans to house fashion collections, High Jewellery and accessories there, with interiors drawing on Kolkata, historic travel and Indian decorative traditions.
The space is set to include around 120 chandeliers, nearly 200 antique carpets, more than 100 antique textiles and about 300 original artworks from the Sabyasachi Art Foundation. Its design references railway carriages, steamships, Kashmir houseboats, old North Kolkata homes, Hogg Market and Chowringhee.
The brand is also preparing a Byzantine Empire-inspired High Jewellery collection for a September 15 debut during New York Fashion Week.
