Satya Niketan rescue ends; MCD gives adjacent PG three days for demolition

Sukriti Singh left her belongings behind when her room began shaking during the Satya Niketan building collapse. She escaped with only her phone and the clothes she was wearing.

The PG where she has lived for two years, Property No. 13 in Satya Niketan, has received an MCD demolition notice. The order describes the occupied building as ruinous and dangerous, posing a threat to residents, visitors and passersby, and gives three days for demolition. Students said they had not yet been allowed to collect their possessions.

Rescue operations at the collapsed building near DU South Campus have ended. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said 12 people were brought out injured and seven later died. Five students were among those rescued; two were expected to be discharged, while another was in the ICU.

Delhi Police said no mobile jammers were deployed at the site and that police, NDRF and fire teams remained in contact by phone. One injured labourer was stable with serious leg injuries.
