Satyaniketan PG video shows dispute over inspection and filming

Inside a narrow Satyaniketan PG corridor, a journalist asks whether the property has fire-safety arrangements and an emergency exit as a dispute with the owner unfolds on camera.

The video shows the journalist questioning the available space and routes through the building. During the exchange, she and a colleague allege that the owner pushed them, grabbed the accompanying reporter and tried to cover the camera. The owner denies grabbing the reporter and asks them to stop recording. The circumstances of the confrontation have not been independently verified.

The footage emerged after a boys’ PG building near Delhi University’s South Campus collapsed on September 6. Six people were reported dead and 11 were rescued as teams searched the debris.

For students and other tenants in Satyaniketan, where PGs and rented rooms are widely used, the video has added attention to basic questions inside such properties: space, exit routes and fire-safety provisions.
