Gurugram Sector 104 society reports 23-hour power outage

Puri Emerald Bay residents in Gurugram’s Sector 104 said their regular power supply was unavailable from 7pm on Monday until 6pm on Tuesday, affecting at least 150 families.

The society management said it kept in touch with Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (DHBVN) during the repair work. Backup power was first used for essential services and was later extended to homes as the outage continued, estate manager Om Prakash said.

Residents said long outages had become frequent. Ragini Kaul said households can pay up to ₹27 a unit for backup power supplied by the realtor, compared with ₹7 a unit when regular supply is available.

The reason for Monday’s outage is disputed. The management said a fault in the 33kV line handled by DHBVN caused it. Vikram Singh, DHBVN’s sub-divisional officer for New Palam Vihar, said the fault lay in the society’s feeder line and control panel, and that supply from the utility’s side was continuous. He said another society served by the same 33kV line was not affected.
