Gurugram Sector 109 residents seek roads, drainage and streetlights

More than 5,000 families in Gurugram’s Sector 109 depend on a narrow, uneven revenue road to reach the main road, residents said, because the planned 24-metre internal roads have not been developed.

The sector, along the Dwarka Expressway, has eight high-rise societies. Residents said inadequate drainage and sewerage systems leave standing water after heavy rain, while poorly lit internal roads make walking and two-wheeler travel difficult after dark. They also reported irregular sweeping and garbage collection, with waste and dust accumulating in parts of the sector.

Gaurav Prakash, a resident of Brisk Lumbini, described the access road as a muddy track with uneven patches.

Ward councillor Satpal Singh said an estimate for revenue-road repairs has been prepared and tenders will be floated after the monsoon. He said road-sweeping machines are planned for the ward by January. GMDA spokesperson Neha Sharma said work on the Sector 109/112 dividing road is expected to finish by September 30.
