Sector 45 Metro station plan outlines multi-modal hub in Gurugram

Sector 45’s proposed Metro station could become a transfer point for buses, autos, e-rickshaws, cabs, cars and cycles under a multi-modal integration plan submitted by Gurugram Metro Rail Limited (GMRL) to the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA).

GMRL projects 27,865 daily boardings and 24,914 alightings at the station by 2051, totalling 52,779 passenger movements a day. It estimates peak-hour boardings at 3,857 and alightings at 3,494.

The plan provides five car bays, six auto and e-rickshaw bays, and two bus bays on each side, along with EV charging, pedestrian access, public bike sharing and facilities for passengers with disabilities. The proposal is intended to reduce dependence on informal drop-offs and service-lane parking for trips between neighbourhood streets and the Metro.

GMRL identified broken footpaths along drains that push pedestrians onto service lanes, while a damaged painted cycle lane is not in use. On-street parking and damaged road surfaces have also narrowed parts of the service roads.

GMRL has proposed similar integration plans for Cyber Park and Sector 72 stations. GMDA says it will work on last-mile transport integration and on clearing obstacles around stations.
