Gurgaon Sector 45 residents seek repairs to roads built 18 months ago

Potholes nearly two feet deep have appeared on several internal roads in Gurgaon’s Sector 45, residents say, barely 18 months after the stretches were built.

The affected 18-metre-wide links run from Kisan Mandi towards DPS, from the community centre towards St Angel Junior School, and from St Angel Junior School towards Ardee City. Puneet Pahwa, general secretary of the Sector 45 RWA, said residents have put construction debris into some holes to keep the roads motorable.

Recent rain has further damaged the uneven surfaces, residents said. OP Yadav, the RWA president, said residents had spent their own money on temporary filling after commuting became difficult. They have also flagged problems on recently constructed 10-metre and 12-metre roads in the sector.

An MCG official said the 18-metre roads are no longer within their defect-liability period and that a fresh estimate is being prepared before it is sent to the competent authority for approval. Work on the 10-metre and 12-metre roads is still under way, the official said, and rain-related defects will be rectified.
