Manesar’s Sector 99A: Residents report no streetlights on Garhi road

A 2-km stretch of road beside Pareena Lakshi, Pareena Coban and Garhi village in Sector 99A has no functioning streetlights, residents say.

Gopal Jha, president of the Pareena Coban RWA, said the route is heavily used and that repeated complaints to the Municipal Corporation of Manesar (MCM) had not led to a repair. Resident Gaurav Ranga said his society had been without lighting for 30 to 45 days, creating safety concerns for women and children using the road in the evening.

Residents said the lights were installed around seven months ago but developed faults soon afterwards. They said MCM floated a repair tender in April, before poles were removed in May and July for the Garhi road-widening project.

Vasu Baggan, MCM’s executive engineer for electrical works, said the poles were uprooted for widening and can be reinstalled only after the road is reconstructed. He said MCM cannot arrange temporary lighting. Residents said construction is on hold during the monsoon and is expected to resume after the rainy season.
