Select Cityflo buses in Mumbai are getting mini libraries for office commuters

A Cityflo bus ride to work may now come with a book borrowed between stops. The urban bus service has partnered with Project Mumbai on ‘Turning Pages’, a pilot that turns select Mumbai buses into small libraries.

Passengers can read books during their journey, borrow or exchange them, donate their own copies and recommend titles for other commuters. The onboard collections include fiction, business, self-development, biographies and contemporary Indian writing.

Cityflo co-founder and CMO Sankalp Kelshikar said the daily commute is often one of the few periods when people have time for themselves. “Through our collaboration with Project Mumbai, we’re giving that time back to something most of us struggle to make room for — reading,” he said.

The programme sits within Project Mumbai’s Read Mumbai movement, which aims to encourage reading across the city. For regular Cityflo users facing long office commutes, the pilot offers an alternative to the usual stretch of phone scrolling. The initiative is currently limited to selected buses.
