Bengaluru Ganesha-making workshops on September 12 and 13

At Dialogues Cafe in Koramangala, artist Brunda M will guide beginners through making a Ganesha from clay on September 12 and 13, starting at 11.30am. “Don’t come trying to make a perfect Ganesha. Come curious,” she says.

Clay, paint and mirror work

Those looking to work with clay and colour can choose between several Koramangala sessions. Espressoulster Coffee is hosting Ganesha Lippan Art on both days from 3pm, where participants mould a clay idol, paint it and add small mirrors and glass pieces in the decorative style associated with Kutch.

At Pixi in Ashok Nagar, a paint-your-own-Ganesha session begins at 2.30pm on September 12. Participants receive a gesso-coated clay idol to paint with acrylics, rhinestones and bindis.

Espressoulster Coffee will also host a fuzzy-wire Ganesha workshop at 7pm on both days. Artist Sneha Deb Barma will use a thermocol ball and colourful pipe cleaners as the base for the figures.

A Ganesha to plant or hang on the wall

Social in Koramangala has three workshops scheduled for September 12 from 2pm: Ganesha Texture Art, Plant Your Ganesha and Ganesha Mandap Making. The texture-art session uses POP-based paste or tissue paper to build a raised Ganesha image on canvas before it is painted.

In the plantable-idol workshop, participants place seeds inside natural clay while shaping the Ganesha. Krishna Khurana, co-founder and COO of Social Sailor, says the clay contains no chemicals and can be watered at home for a plant to grow.

The mandap-making session uses MDF boards, cardboard and decorative elements to create a backdrop for an idol.

Indiranagar sessions on Sunday

Social in Indiranagar will run the Lippan Art workshop at 2pm on September 13. Its texture-art, plantable-Ganesha and mandap-making sessions are also scheduled for 2pm that day.
