Seven arrested in Rajouri Garden over alleged credit-card fraud, police say

A Sikri resident reported losing ₹65,040 after receiving a July 27 call from a person who offered to increase his credit-card limit. Faridabad Cyber Police said the complaint led officers to a hotel in Delhi’s Rajouri Garden, where they arrested seven people in connection with an alleged banking and credit-card fraud operation.

Police said they seized 14 mobile phones and 14 SIM cards. Investigators allege that one person ran the operation and another arranged customer data, phones and SIM cards, while the remaining people made calls posing as banking or credit-card representatives.

The callers allegedly obtained OTPs and account details using different pretexts, then used them for unauthorised transactions. Police said that, during questioning, the group claimed that 400 to 500 people had been cheated. Investigators are checking that claim through the recovered devices and financial records.

Police also suspect that money from the alleged fraud was used to buy goods online and that the goods were later sold for cash at lower prices. Officers are tracing the financial trail and examining possible links to other cases, including the role of anyone who may have supplied data, SIM cards or accounts.
