Sahibabad: Seven arrested after alleged infant abduction

A three-month-old boy allegedly taken from his home near Tila Morh in Sahibabad has been rescued, and Ghaziabad police have arrested seven people in the case.

Police said the child was taken on the afternoon of August 9. His parents filed a complaint the next day, following which Tila Morh police registered an FIR under Section 137(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.

Investigators allege that a couple entered the home and took the infant after monitoring the movements of the child’s parents and relatives. A neighbour reportedly saw the child being taken away.

Police said the infant was passed through several people, including people from Panipat, Loni and Shamli, before being taken to suspects in Haryana. Police allege that the group planned to sell the child for ₹5 lakh to ₹6 lakh.

The seven accused were arrested from Farrukhnagar near Tila Morh after investigators used CCTV footage and surveillance to trace them, ACP Atul Kumar Singh said.
