Shantinagara TTMC airport bus lounge has locked toilet, damp walls

At Shantinagara TTMC, Anil Kumar had about 15 minutes before his Vayu Vajra bus to Kempegowda International Airport when he looked for a washroom. The toilet in the airport bus lounge was locked, and he left without using it.

The air-conditioned lounge had switched-off lights, flaking paint and damp patches on its walls. Its waiting area and washroom area also appeared poorly maintained.

Lavanya B.S., another commuter, said she preferred to wait outside rather than sit alone in the lounge because she did not find it well maintained or comfortable.

The lounge serves passengers using BMTC’s Vayu Vajra airport buses. At Kempegowda Bus Station in Majestic, the corresponding lounge had cleaner waiting and washroom areas, though its air-conditioning was not working during the visit.

BMTC officials said they were aware of the Shantinagara lounge’s condition. They attributed it to inadequate upkeep by the Shantinagara TTMC manager and said BMTC followed the same maintenance policy across its terminals.
