Shivajinagar traffic curbs set for St Mary’s Basilica feast on September 8

Traffic around St Mary’s Basilica and Russell Market will change from 1pm to 11pm on Tuesday, September 8, as Shivajinagar hosts the annual feast, flag-hoisting ceremony and procession.

Bengaluru Traffic Police said vehicle movement will be completely restricted during the procession between Balekundri Circle and Jyothi Cafe Junction; from Shivaji Circle towards Jyothi Cafe Junction; Bowring Hospital Junction to Select Junction; Quadrant Circle towards RMS Junction; and Bamboo Bazaar towards Sunni Circle.

Drivers from Balekundri Circle can use Infantry Road, while those travelling from Commercial Street towards Shivajinagar can take Hospital Road. Vehicles leaving Bamboo Bazaar can turn near Saleem Garage and continue via Thimmaiah Road.

BMTC buses between BRV Junction and Select Junction will face restrictions. Services from Queens Road and Vidhana Soudha towards Shivajinagar bus stand will run via Infantry Road and Central Street. Buses arriving from Anil Kumble Junction and Manipal Junction will drop passengers near BRV Junction before returning to their routes.

Parking will be prohibited near Russell Market and on Broadway Road, Central Street, Shivaji Road, Union Street, Infantry Road, Cubbon Road, Hospital Road and Lady Curzon Road. Parking has been earmarked at Chota Maidan, the first-floor parking at Shivajinagar BMTC bus stop, Main Guard Cross Road opposite Safina Plaza, and behind Ramada Hotel at the Old Congress Office site.
