Bengaluru: Shivakumar asks legislators to monitor SIR voter rolls

D.K. Shivakumar asked legislators at a Bengaluru meeting on August 25 to help ensure that eligible voters are not left out during the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls.

The voter-roll exercise has begun in Bengaluru, where 24.05 lakh voters are to receive SIR notices. Shivakumar had also sought more time for voter-roll claims after publication of the draft rolls.

Legislators from 27 districts raised constituency needs, including drinking water, infrastructure, housing, irrigation and other development works. Shivakumar said funding decisions would follow discussions with senior ministers and officials.

He also asked legislators not to intervene in the transfers of IAS and IPS officers. Legislators were asked to support party workers, appoint six members to panchayat-level guarantee committees and recommend people to lead Bharat Jodo Yuva Sanghas.
