Short, intense showers possible in Gurgaon as humid weather persists

Gurgaon may get short, intense bursts of rain on Friday, but many neighbourhoods could remain dry as showers are expected to be highly localised.

Light rain on Thursday varied sharply across the district. Gurgaon tehsil recorded 34mm between 8am and 5pm, while Kadipur and Harsaru received 45mm each. Wazirabad logged 4mm and Badshahpur 1mm; Sohna, Manesar, Pataudi and Farrukhnagar were dry during that period.

The Gurgaon KVK station recorded a maximum of 35.6°C and a minimum of 27.2°C on Thursday. The minimum was 5.2°C higher than Wednesday's, adding to the day's hot and humid conditions.

Independent weather observer Navdeep Dahiya said thunderstorms could bring moderate to heavy rain to parts of Gurgaon, Delhi, Noida, Ghaziabad and Faridabad, with individual spells lasting roughly 20 to 40 minutes. He estimated that only 20% to 30% of the wider NCR may receive these showers.

The IMD has forecast fairly widespread to widespread rainfall over Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi on August 14 and 15, and another similar spell on August 17. Residents heading out should be prepared for sudden rain rather than an all-day downpour.
