Delhi: Shovana Narayan stages environmental Kathak at Kamani

At Kamani Auditorium on Thursday evening, Kathak exponent Shovana Narayan led the Asavari Repertory in *Fractured Harmonies: A Call for Renewal*, a dance production centred on environmental damage.

The four-act performance travelled through ocean pollution, deforestation and space debris, closing with collective hope. Before the show, visitors viewed a visual-art exhibition in the foyer curated by Kishore Labar.

Narayan said ecological concerns had informed her work for decades, recalling *Chipko*, a dance ballet she created in 1982. “Nothing has been left untouched,” she said, referring to damage on land, in the air, underwater and in space.

Stefan Priesner, the UN Resident Coordinator in India, said scientific measurements alone do not necessarily prompt action, and described culture as a way to build awareness that can lead to behavioural change.
