Singapore’s Law Minister Edwin Tong left Delhi with praise for a breakfast plate of poori, tangy sambar and masala chai.
Tong, who is also Singapore’s Second Minister for Home Affairs, posted a photo of the meal on Instagram after returning home from what he described as a quick, whirlwind visit to Delhi. He said he had completed meetings and official work during the trip, while finding time for what he called his favourite Indian breakfast.
Poori is commonly served in Delhi with accompaniments such as aloo or chhole, but Tong chose sambar for his meal. He described the wholewheat flatbread, sambar and chai combination as “a near-perfect breakfast.”
The post drew responses from users suggesting other Delhi breakfast staples, including chhole poori and aloo paratha.
