Six held in alleged ₹1.5 crore Sector 25 garage theft

Police arrested six men near the Rajnigandha Chowk–Film City road after they allegedly gathered to divide nearly ₹1.5 crore reported stolen from a Sector 25 garage.

Police said they recovered ₹1.48 crore in cash and a car allegedly used in the theft. The money was reported stolen on August 11 from a garage where it had been kept by a man identified as Ashish.

Investigators named Avnish Kumar as the alleged planner. Police said he knew about the cash, which had allegedly been handed to Ashish a few days earlier for market investment after promises of high returns. They said Avnish had previously given Ashish ₹46 lakh for investment and was dissatisfied with the returns.

Sector 20 police formed three teams after receiving the complaint. The teams reviewed footage from more than 400 cameras, identified about 20 vehicles with suspicious registration details, and used electronic surveillance and local intelligence to trace the six men.

Police are examining Ashish and his associates’ investment business, along with the six men’s communication records, to establish the sequence of events.
