Sonam Wangchuk responds to Salman Khan’s plea to end his Jantar Mantar hunger strike

Sonam Wangchuk has responded to Salman Khan’s “Sonam, it’s done bro” appeal, made while Wangchuk was on hunger strike at Jantar Mantar in support of students protesting the alleged NEET paper leak.

In a podcast with Prakhar Gupta, Wangchuk accepted a T-shirt carrying the phrase as a “healthy sentiment”. He said, “Majbooriyan hoti hongi sabki. Aage peeche, daayen baayen dekhna padta hai. Lekin unhone kuch kaha uski main izzat karta hoon.”

Wangchuk began his indefinite fast at Jantar Mantar on June 28 alongside a protest led by the Cockroach Janta Party, which sought the resignation of then Union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan. In July, Delhi Police moved Wangchuk to Safdarjung Hospital; he was later shifted to Medanta Hospital in Gurugram following a Delhi High Court order.

Khan had backed the students’ demand for action over the leak before asking them to return home and urging Wangchuk to eat. The protest concluded after Pradhan resigned and the government accepted other demands, including no legal or police action against protesters.
