Sonia Vihar students wade through mud on routes to three schools

Main 25-Foot Road and the connecting Shani Bazar Road in Sonia Vihar have become a difficult daily passage for children heading to three nearby schools.

Waterlogging, mud and damaged road surfaces are affecting students of two private schools and one government school, residents said. Some children have been arriving in slippers because their school shoes get muddy, said Anjali, a mother of two.

Students joined residents in a protest a day earlier over the broken and filthy condition of the routes. They described themselves as Gen Alpha.

For families in the area, the road condition has persisted for several years. Resident Tinku Sharma called it a “severe civic infrastructure failure year after year”. The two roads remain essential links for school-going children, but their condition is disrupting the morning routine for parents and students alike.
