Gurgaon student dies in crash on incomplete Sector 88A flyover

Shivansh Sharma, 23, died after a motorcycle crash on an under-construction flyover near Sector 88A in Gurgaon on Tuesday night.

Sharma, a second-year BCA student at DPG Degree College in Sector 34 and a resident of Palam Vihar Extension, had left his father’s dhaba at about 10.50pm, his brother Sandeep Sharma said. He was travelling home on the route towards the Dwarka Expressway when he attempted to pass through a gap between cement blocks and collided with one in the dark, his brother said.

The family said Sharma was wearing a helmet and suffered a head injury. Relatives found him unconscious on the flyover around 6am after searching for him when he did not return home.

Sandeep Sharma said reflector tape on the block appeared torn, which may have made the obstruction harder to spot.

Police from the Sector 93 police post have started inquest proceedings. Following an autopsy on Wednesday, Sharma’s body was handed to his family.
