Subko apologises after Koramangala receipt used body-type description for customer

A customer’s receipt from Subko The Craftery in Koramangala carried the description “Little fat black shirt” under customer details, rather than their name.

The customer shared photographs of the bill and the cafe on Reddit, writing that staff had reduced them to their body type. Subko Coffee Roasters later confirmed that a guest at its Koramangala outlet had been described by body type on a printed bill and said the employee had knowingly entered it.

“Fat shaming is wrong. Every form. Every time. No exceptions,” the company said in an Instagram statement, calling the incident cruel. It said it had tried to contact the customer to apologise and taken what it described as the strongest disciplinary action possible.

Subko said it is revising the process for recording customer details at the counter and will include the issue in staff induction. The company did not specify the disciplinary action taken.
