Engineer dies after earthmover hits motorcycle near Moulsary Avenue Metro

Tushar Kumar, a 27-year-old system engineer working in Cyberhub, died after an earthmover bucket struck his motorcycle near Moulsary Avenue Rapid Metro station in DLF Phase 3 on Thursday night, police said.

Kumar, who lived in Sector 37D and was originally from Mathura, was riding home between 11.30pm and 11.45pm when he reached a GMDA excavation site on Moulsary Avenue Road. A backhoe loader used by a GMDA contractor swung its bucket arm towards the road and struck his motorcycle, police said. Kumar fell and sustained head injuries.

Commuters took him to a private hospital in DLF Phase 3, where doctors declared him dead on arrival. In his complaint, Kumar’s father, Harish Kumar, alleged that work was being carried out in the middle of the road without barricades or warning signs.

DLF Phase 3 police registered an FIR under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita provisions related to death by negligence, rash driving and damage to property, against the loader operator and unidentified others. Police said the loader and motorcycle were found at the site, and they are trying to trace the operator.
