Mumbai’s Taj Mahal Palace ranks No. 30 on World’s 50 Best Hotels list

The World’s 50 Best Hotels 2026 ranking has placed Mumbai’s Taj Mahal Palace at No. 30, up from No. 38 last year.

The list was unveiled at Les Salles du Carrousel in Paris, marking the first time the awards ceremony has been held in the French capital. Rosewood Hong Kong retained the top position, followed by Capella Bangkok and Four Seasons Bangkok at Chao Phraya River.

Rooms at the hotel, opposite the Gateway of India, typically start at around ₹25,000 a night, with rates varying by date, demand and room category. The Heritage Wing has 285 rooms and suites, while the Tower Wing has a more contemporary design.

More than 800 hoteliers, travel journalists, educators and experienced travellers vote anonymously for the ranking. Regional Academy Chairs support geographical and gender representation among voters.
