Thane begins hearings for 28.6 lakh voter records under review

Thane district has begun Electoral Registration Officer hearings for voter entries that remain unverified during the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls across 18 assembly constituencies.

Of 74,50,515 registered voters, 45,90,249 Enumeration Form Schedules have been digitised, the district administration said. Another 28,60,266 records are under review, including entries marked as relating to relocated voters, deceased individuals and people who could not be traced.

Notices are being issued to voters whose details do not match the 2002 Special Intensive Revision database. Those born before July 1, 1987 must provide one approved proof of their date and place of birth. People born between July 1, 1987 and December 2, 2004 need proof of their own birth details and a document linked to either parent’s birth details.

District Collector and District Election Officer Dr Srikrishna Panchal asked residents to check their names on the draft roll and attend hearings with the required papers. Claims and objections can be filed until September 30, while hearings are scheduled through October 29. The final roll is due on November 4.
