Thane orders dust checks and debris action on Ghodbunder Road

Debris and unused machinery along Ghodbunder Road’s metro works will face civic action under a Thane Municipal Corporation plan reviewed on Tuesday by Commissioner Saurabh Rao.

The civic body will issue notices to the Metro authority, while private developers found dumping debris on roads may face penalties. Officials will check construction sites for water sprinkling, green nets and working tyre-wash facilities to prevent mud and dust from reaching roads.

The Solid Waste Management Department has been asked to ensure segregation and prompt disposal of construction and demolition waste, and to add garbage-collection rounds where needed. TMC also plans to involve housing societies, schools, NGOs and volunteers in cleanliness drives.

Departments responsible for trees, gardens and the environment have been directed to coordinate on tree conservation, open-space protection and expanding green cover. Assistant commissioners must survey dangerous buildings in their wards and begin necessary action.

Rao also directed officials to speed up Ganesh mandal permissions. TMC is preparing separate Ganeshotsav and Diwali plans covering sanitation, traffic, waste, air pollution and noise pollution.
