Thane sets September 13 deadline for Ganpati immersion ghat works

Masunda Lake’s Datt Ghat, the Rayladevi artificial pond and Gaimukh Ghat are among the Thane immersion sites being readied for Ganeshotsav.

Mayor Sharmila Pimpale has directed the Thane Municipal Corporation to complete work at all city ghats by September 13. She reviewed arrangements for immersions from the 1.5-day rituals through Anant Chaturdashi.

The corporation plans weather-proof sheds, mobile toilets, drinking-water points, public-address systems and designated aarti areas. Pimpale also directed officials to install CCTV coverage, barricade lake edges and deploy security staff at artificial ponds. At Masunda Lake, officials were told to replace water in the immersion area, collect nirmalya continuously and repaint the ghat premises.

Temporary immersion tanks are planned near major housing societies. At Gaimukh, TMC officials have been asked to coordinate with traffic police on traffic management. Pimpale also urged public Ganeshotsav mandals to begin immersion processions early on Anant Chaturdashi and follow civic, police and traffic directions.
