The Jazz Room performs at The Piano Man, Delhi, on 16 August

At tables inside The Piano Man, Eldeco Centre, audiences heard jazz standards, tributes to Louis Armstrong and Frank Sinatra, and moments of improvisation on 16 August.

The Jazz Room: A Journey to the Heart of New Orleans returned to Delhi after an earlier edition in the capital. Presented by Live Your City, the format seated guests at tables, with drinks available during the performance.

The set drew on New Orleans jazz traditions, balancing arranged numbers with improvisation by the performers. Pranjal Begwani, The Jazz Room Candlelight Lead for Live Your City in India and South East Asia, said the format could give Indian jazz musicians a dedicated space to perform and reach new audiences.

Organisers said they may develop The Jazz Room as a recurring format in India, with future programmes exploring different artists, periods and styles within jazz.
