Three IGL pump workers killed in CNG blast at Tikri Kalan station

Manish Prasad, 26, Sunny, 30, and Brahmjeet, 34, were killed when a truck’s gas tank exploded during refilling at a CNG station on Rohtak Road near Tikri Kalan Metro station.

The blast occurred at about 3.20pm, police said. Three others — Surjeet, 32, Sanjay, 37, and truck driver Vipin, 30 — were injured and admitted to CD Global Hospital in Mundka. Two trucks, a Maruti Eeco van, a two-wheeler and equipment at the pump were damaged.

Delhi Fire Services sent six tenders after receiving a call at 3.37pm. The station was evacuated amid concern over a gas leak, with police and fire personnel carrying out the rescue. Police said the cause is not yet clear: investigators are checking whether the leak originated in the truck’s tank or a pipe at the station.

The station is licensed and operated by dealer Aadhya Energies, police said. A negligence case under Section 106 of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita is to be registered and the dealer will be questioned. Relatives of Manish and Brahmjeet alleged that some injured people waited more than 30 minutes for assistance; police said they were verifying the claims.
