Global Chess League Bengaluru: three teams tied on 15 match points

Alpine APL Pipers, FYERS American Gambits and Ganges Grandmasters are tied on 15 match points with two group-stage rounds remaining at the Global Chess League in Bengaluru.

The Pipers and American Gambits have 73 game points each, one more than the Grandmasters. On Thursday, Ganges beat the Pipers 12-4 before losing 13-5 to the American Gambits. Levon Aronian beat Anish Giri for the Grandmasters in the first match, then defeated Nihal Sarin in the later loss.

The Pipers then beat PBG Alaskan Knights 11-6, with Magnus Carlsen overcoming Viswanathan Anand. CheQ Mumba Masters beat Triveni Continental Kings 14-5 to move to 12 match points and 73 game points.

Friday’s fixtures begin at 5pm with Triveni Continental Kings versus PBG Alaskan Knights. The Pipers play the American Gambits at 6.30pm, followed by Ganges Grandmasters versus CheQ Mumba Masters at 8pm.
