Gurugram Sector 46: Police file FIR after SUV hits three-year-old

A three-year-old girl died after a Mahindra XEV-9e allegedly reversed into her in Gurugram’s Sector 46 on Tuesday evening.

Police said the girl was playing with other children on an empty plot beside her home in a service lane near Ambedkar Chowk when the vehicle reversed at about 7.30pm. Residents alerted her family and took the child to hospital, where doctors declared her brought dead.

The driver left the spot after the collision, police said. Officers identified the driver and vehicle with help from local residents.

On a complaint from the child’s father, Santosh Chaudhary, Sector 50 police registered an FIR on Wednesday under Sections 106, causing death by negligence, and 281, rash driving, of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.

Police had not made an arrest.
