Traveller alleges ₹4,000 airport cab overcharge after 14km Bengaluru ride

Abeeshna N said she paid ₹4,000 for a 14km cab ride after leaving Bengaluru airport, having been told by the driver that the journey would be charged by meter.

The UK-based content creator said she had returned to India after three years and did not know Bengaluru’s local transport options or typical taxi fares. She said she asked about the price before entering the cab, and relied on the driver’s assurance of a metered charge.

After the ride, N said the driver handed her a ₹4,000 receipt. She later concluded that the bill was fraudulent. “I didn't even know I was being scammed at that moment,” she wrote, adding that she initially assumed this was how airport taxis operated in Bengaluru.

Her account is an allegation and does not identify the driver, cab operator or the destination. For passengers arriving at the airport, the immediate takeaway is to confirm the fare and available transport choices before beginning a journey.
