Greater Noida opens trial U-turn before Pari Chowk for light vehicles

A new U-turn for light vehicles has opened about 300 metres before the Pari Chowk roundabout, near Pari Chowk Metro station, allowing drivers to turn back without entering the intersection.

Greater Noida Authority said the ₹20 lakh facility is operating on a trial basis. Barriers along the central verge on the Noida Expressway allow vehicles travelling from Delhi and Noida towards Greater Noida to turn around before reaching Pari Chowk.

The Authority said the route may also help people leaving India Expo Mart, Jaypee Greens and Knowledge Park 2 travel towards the Yamuna Expressway, Ansal Golf Link, Mitra Enclave and nearby residential societies. Ravi Kumar, who was travelling towards Agra, said the U-turn saved him about 10 to 15 minutes.

Pari Chowk receives traffic from the Noida Expressway, Surajpur and Kasna, and congestion increases during rush hours. The Authority expects the arrangement to assist traffic movement during the Uttar Pradesh International Trade Show at India Expo Mart from September 25 to 29.

Senior manager Rajesh Kumar Nim said the Authority will decide whether to retain the facility after monitoring traffic during the trial.
