Two arrested after Sangam Vihar man found dead in alleged staged burglary killing
Police say a 55-year-old property dealer was killed inside his Sangam Vihar home before the scene was made to look like a burglary.
Munna Lal was found injured on Ratiya Marg early Monday and was declared dead at AIIMS Trauma Centre. Police have arrested his wife, Manju alias Nazia, and Chaman, alleging they planned the killing; a third man, Kishan, is also accused of assisting.
A 55-year-old man was found fatally injured on Ratiya Marg in Sangam Vihar early Monday, in a case police say was initially presented as a burglary.
Police identified him as Munna Lal, a property dealer. A PCR call came in around 5am, and he was taken to AIIMS Trauma Centre, where doctors declared him dead.
Investigators allege that his wife, Manju alias Nazia, mixed a sedative into his water before Chaman, whom police describe as her lover, and his associate Kishan entered the home. Police allege Munna Lal was strangled, smothered, given electric shocks and beaten with a wooden stick.
The three then allegedly cleaned parts of the home and scattered articles to support a burglary narrative. CCTV footage showed a masked man entering the house at about 1.45am and leaving around 3.15am, police said.
Nazia and Chaman have been arrested. Police said they recovered Rs 15,000 and are continuing to investigate the sequence of events.
