Delhi–Dubai SpiceJet flights depart after delays of up to 30 hours

SpiceJet flight SG-5111 departed Delhi for Dubai at 2pm on Tuesday, about 30 hours after its scheduled 7.45am departure on Monday. It was carrying 130 passengers.

A second Dubai-bound service, SG-5105, departed on Tuesday afternoon after a delay of nearly 19 hours, with 160 passengers on board. Passengers from the disrupted services protested at Terminal 3 of Indira Gandhi International Airport.

SpiceJet said SG-5111, SG-5105 and SG-9511 were delayed for operational reasons after an aircraft was grounded. The airline said it arranged alternative flights for affected passengers and that the first two services had departed.

SG-9511, originally scheduled to leave at 8.30am on Tuesday, was rescheduled for later that evening. Delhi Airport said its teams were coordinating with the airline and others, and that food, beverages and other assistance had been arranged for passengers.
