Two die in Raghubir Nagar godown fire; battery blast suspected

Sufaid, 17, and Mohd Samid, 38, died after a fire broke out at a godown in Raghubir Nagar early Monday. Officials suspect an e-rickshaw battery blast may have caused the fire.

The Delhi Fire Service received a call at 4.42am about the fire at R-17A on Masjid Gurudwara Road, within the Moti Nagar police station area. Fire crews brought the blaze under control by 5.25am.

Both men suffered burn injuries and were taken to Guru Gobind Singh Hospital in Raghubir Nagar, where doctors declared them brought dead.

Officials said the fire began on the first floor of a ground-plus-four-storey building where domestic articles were stored. Police have registered a case and are investigating the cause of the suspected explosion.
