Kondli slip-road bridges open for Noida and Kalyanpuri traffic

Two new slip-road bridges have opened in Kondli, providing an alternate route through a busy east Delhi junction.

The two-lane bridges cross the Ghazipur Drain and Hindon Canal, linking Chand Cinema Road, Ghazipur Road and Kondli Bridge. The route is intended to reduce peak-hour conflicts at the main intersection, where vehicles bound for Kalyanpuri, Ghazipur and Noida previously converged.

The project is expected to assist commuters from Kondli, Kalyanpuri, Ghazipur and the Ghazipur Dairy Farm Road area, and improve access for residents of Trilokpuri and Patparganj constituencies.

The bridges stand on 1,200mm-diameter RCC cast-in-situ pile foundations. Steel plate-girder footpaths alongside the bridges provide space for pedestrians.

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said the project had been approved earlier but was delayed by pending procedures. She said the required no-objection certificates and approvals were cleared after the new government took office, and funds were reallocated to complete the works.
