Ghaziabad starts work on two Hindon Elevated Road ramps

Two new ramps are being built beside Ghaziabad’s Hindon Elevated Road to provide movements not available at the present interchanges.

The ₹90-crore project includes a 590-metre ramp on the Indirapuram side and a 620-metre ramp at Vasundhara. Each will have a 7.5-metre-wide carriageway, and officials expect construction to finish in 18 months. The ramps are being designed for vehicle speeds of 40-50 kmph.

Commissioned in 2018, the elevated road links UP Gate at the Ghazipur border with Rajnagar Extension, bypassing congested stretches in the city. The existing Vasundhara ramp takes vehicles up to the elevated road, where they merge with traffic travelling from UP Gate towards Rajnagar Extension. At Kanawani in Indirapuram, the existing ramp allows traffic from the Rajnagar Extension side to exit towards UP Gate.

The new parallel ramps are planned to allow traffic from Vasundhara to travel towards UP Gate and vehicles at Kanawani to move towards Indirapuram. Two 50-metre ground-level rotaries are also planned at their ends to manage traffic flows. Construction will use prestressed, precast concrete girders.
