Bengaluru restricts two-wheelers on airport, Electronics City corridors
Bengaluru Traffic Police will introduce vehicle restrictions on four flyovers from September 4 and on the Electronics City Elevated Corridor from September 11.
Bengaluru Traffic Police will restrict two-wheelers on the airport-bound KIA Road Elevated Corridor from September 4 and the Electronics City corridor from September 11.
Two-wheelers will be barred from the Kempe Gowda International Airport Road Elevated Corridor, in the direction of Kempe Gowda International Airport, from September 4. The same restriction will take effect on the Electronics City Elevated Corridor on September 11.
Bengaluru Traffic Police has also announced restrictions on certain categories of vehicles at the BGS Flyover, Peenya Elevated Corridor and Double-Decker Flyover from September 4.
Police said their review considered accidents linked to differences in vehicle speeds, along with flyover width and design, breakdown-related congestion, entry and exit bottlenecks, and emergency traffic management.
A senior traffic police officer said the restrictions will be reviewed after implementation and adjusted if necessary. The Electronics City flyover is managed by Bangalore Elevated Tollway Pvt. Ltd.; police said they will discuss changes with the operator if its management term is extended.
