Two women journalists allege assault after detention at Saket police station; Delhi Police deny claim

Two women journalists said they were taken to Saket police station after trying to question Chief Minister Rekha Gupta at an event in south Delhi, then assaulted inside a room at the station.

The journalists, who were covering the inauguration of a new wing at Max Hospital in Saket, said police personnel stopped them near the venue and detained them. One woman alleged that officers asked about their community before beating them again. The two said they were abused and injured; videos showing injury marks circulated on social media.

Delhi Police denied the account, calling the allegations factually incorrect and misleading. A senior officer said the women had parked their scooter near a designated VVIP security route and obstructed it.

Journalists’ organisations have condemned the alleged assault and called for a fair investigation. The episode places competing accounts before police officials, with the women seeking scrutiny of their detention and treatment at the station.
