Two workers killed, two injured after car hits roadside crew near Shriram Chowk

Bijendra and Pappu Singh, both residents of Bulandshahr, were killed when a car hit a roadside work crew near Shriram Chowk on the Dwarka Expressway early Thursday.

The four workers were installing metal grilles along the expressway at about 2.30am when the car, travelling from the Delhi side, struck them. Bijendra, around 60, and Pappu Singh, around 58, died at the site. Satish Chand, 45, and Ram Kumar, 28, were taken to a nearby private hospital with serious injuries.

Bajghera police reached the spot and impounded the Delhi-registered vehicle. Police said preliminary information indicates that the car went out of control before the collision.

The 20-year-old driver, a Delhi University student who lives in Sector 110, Gurgaon, was also injured and was referred to Fortis Hospital after initial treatment. Police have registered a case of rash and negligent driving causing death at Bajghera police station.
