Ukraine Embassy marks 35 years of independence with Delhi concert

Croatian soprano Silvija Radjen Kumar and Ukrainian violinist Tetiana Mahdych were among more than 15 Ukrainian, Indian and international artists who performed at VOLIA 35 in New Delhi.

The Embassy of Ukraine in India presented the concert to mark 35 years since the restoration of Ukraine’s independence. Its title comes from the Ukrainian word *volia*, which translates as both “freedom” and “will”.

Curated by Kumar and musician Lanu Yaden, the afternoon concert unfolded in two parts. The first featured classical piano and violin recitals, including Ukrainian compositions and international songs. A live band then took the stage for rock and contemporary sets.

Guests were also served a specially prepared menu of Ukrainian dishes. Artem Nosko, Chargé d’Affaires a.i. at the Embassy of Ukraine in India, and Volodymyr Prytula, the embassy’s Second Secretary, attended the event.
