UP announces 500-acre Japanese City in YEIDA’s Sector 5A

Uttar Pradesh has proposed a 500-acre Japanese City in Sector 5A of the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA), planned as an industrial, commercial and residential base for Japanese companies and citizens.

Chief minister Yogi Adityanath announced the plan while addressing the UP-Japan Investment Meet 2026 from Lucknow. More than 200 Japanese CEOs, managing directors, country heads and senior industry representatives attended the programme in New Delhi.

The event also included a virtual groundbreaking ceremony for Escorts Kubota Limited’s manufacturing facility in YEIDA Sector 10. The company has been allotted 154 acres for a project estimated at Rs 2,029 crore. According to the announcement, the facility is expected to create about 4,000 jobs and manufacture around 60,000 tractors a year, along with agricultural machinery components.

Spark Minda Group’s projects in YEIDA sectors 10 and 24 were also marked for groundbreaking. The projects are estimated at Rs 1,166 crore and are expected to create about 6,440 jobs, with facilities planned to make electronic switches, sensors, USB chargers and other automotive electronic components.
