Up to 15,000 families lose power for hours along Dwarka Expressway

Power went out at 6am in parts of Gurugram’s Dwarka Expressway corridor and, for some residents, did not return until 4.30pm.

An estimated 12,000 to 15,000 families in 12 societies across Sectors 102, 103, 107 and 109 faced outages of up to 10 hours on Independence Day. The affected complexes included Emaar Imperial Gardens, Shapoorji Pallonji Joyville, Adani Oyster, BPTP Amstoria, Suncity Avenue, Satya The Hermitage, M3M Woodshire, ATS Kocoon and SBTL Caladium.

At Suncity Avenue, RWA president Dhananjay Jha said 761 families were without supply for almost 10 hours. He said inverters ran down and food stored in refrigerators had to be discarded.

DHBVN attributed the disruption to several faults, including a 33kV feeder cable box connected to the Sector 107 220kV substation. Officials said a vacuum circuit-breaker panel fault at Joyville also affected Imperial Gardens because the two share supply lines. Repeated feeder tripping affected the Sector 107 substation and Adani Oyster, while another feeder tripped twice, causing outages in Sectors 103, 107 and 109.

DHBVN said it restored supply by shifting load to other feeders. The realtor is expected to repair the cable-box fault within a day or two.
